本課程採專題討論方式進行，前半部偏向台灣電影美學理論及台灣文學史導覽，以播放多部影片片段方式進行交叉分析與比較；後半部則以分組報告互動方式，進行文字與影像在改編與詮釋之間異與同的深度論辯，同時訓練同學以文字表達個人意見的評論能力。期許本課程能開闊學生眼界，培養多面向的閱讀、鑑賞與獨立思考能力。「比較」是一種最基本的思考與批判，文學如是，電影亦然。從文字到影像，從本土到海外，從台灣到華語再到世界，本課程擬定以電影為主、文學為輔，打破傳統國族電影史系統性編年研究方式，透過不同時間、背景、產製脈絡的文學文本與電影文本間的對照與討論，藉以釐清電影、歷史和文化之間緊密複雜的關係，進而探討歷史本質、意涵及歷史實事、真相的建構方式。
本課程聚焦1970之後崛起的當代作家與導演，以台灣新電影為核心，前後輻射，從作者電影談到類型電影，遍及殿堂級經典以至大眾小說，兼談電視劇作及短片創作。尤其著重研討與鄉土文學關係密切之台灣新電影從興起到沒落，其時代意義與美學成就，並在學術理論深度研討之餘，訓練修課學生的影評撰寫文字表達能力。This course is conducted in the form of a topical discussion. The first half focuses on the theory of Taiwanese film aesthetics and the history of Taiwanese literature, with multiple film clips played for cross-analysis and comparison. The second half uses group reports and interactive methods to adapt texts and images. In-depth debate on the differences and similarities between interpretations, and at the same time training students' critical ability to express their personal opinions in words. It is hoped that this course can broaden students' horizons and cultivate multi-faceted reading, appreciation and independent thinking abilities. "Comparison" is the most basic kind of thinking and criticism. This is true for literature and the same is true for movies. From text to image, from local to overseas, from Taiwan to Chinese and then to the world, this course is planned to focus on film and supplement with literature. It breaks the traditional systematic chronological research method of national film history and explores different times, backgrounds, and products through different time periods, backgrounds, and products. The comparison and discussion between literary texts and film texts in the context of the film are used to clarify the close and complex relationship between film, history and culture, and then to explore the nature and meaning of history, as well as the construction methods of historical facts and truth.
This course focuses on contemporary writers and directors who emerged after the 1970s. It takes Taiwan's new cinema as the core and radiates from author's films to genre films, from classics to popular novels, and also talks about the creation of TV series and short films. Particular emphasis is placed on the study of Taiwan's new cinema, which is closely related to local literature, from its rise to its decline, its contemporary significance and aesthetic achievements. In addition to in-depth discussions of academic theories, the course trains students' ability to express themselves in film review writing.
