The objective of this course is to equip students with knowledge and skills needed to form or be a core member of a startup.

• Understanding of startup as a specific mode of entrepreneurship
• Broad knowledge of current startup methodologies and their success/failure examples
• Understanding of the risks, high rate of failure, and the underlying critical success factors
• Understanding of startup terminologies and metrics
• Knowledge of proven approaches to maximize probability of success
• Knowledge of the legal, structural and personnel aspects of a startup
• Knowledge of the life of a startup: challenges, opportunities, funding, growing, promoting, etc.
• Ability to research, analyze, and formulate appropriate approaches to various startup situations
• Ability to develop and refine a startup proposal
• Ability to pitch and promote startup proposals
• Ability to develop or acquire the critical skills and resources required to achieve success

This course will relied heavily on the book, The Lean Startup, by Eric Ries. Additionally, the course will rely on freely available learning materials and references on the internet.
