本課程透過追蹤東亞建築家的設計活動與建築思潮發展，期待帶領學生思考東亞建築的現代性，並進一步思索面對現代世界潮流時身為建築家的立場與策略。課程內容以「建築家」為圓心，漸次向外擴展三個層次。第一個層次提示在東亞中具有代表性的建築家與作品，期待透過探討其手法、理念來理解其時代意義。架構在第一層次上的第二層次則是在1980年代為止的時空中切出片段，在數個時代背景中，比較各建築家在互相牽引的東亞建築發展脈絡中，其所面對的課題、解決策略與設計理念的異同。在如此的基礎之上，第三層次則放大至全球史的範疇，在既有的「現代主義」框架中，定位東亞建築家在現代建築發展脈絡中的角色的同時，也期待共同思辨東亞建築「現代性」的本質。
By tracing the design activities and development of architectural trends of East Asian architects, this course hopes to lead students to think about the modernity of East Asian architecture, and further think about the stance and strategies of architects in the face of the trends of the modern world. The course content takes "Architect" as the center of the circle and gradually expands outward to three levels. The first level reminds the representative architects and works in East Asia, and hopes to understand the significance of their times by exploring their techniques and concepts. The second level of the architecture is to cut out fragments in time and space from the 1980s to the 1980s. In several era backgrounds, it compares the challenges faced by various architects in the development context of East Asian architecture that draws each other. Similarities and differences in topics, solution strategies and design concepts. On this basis, the third level expands to the scope of global history. Within the existing "modernist" framework, it not only positions the role of East Asian architects in the development context of modern architecture, but also looks forward to jointly thinking about East Asian architecture. The essence of "modernity".
