Course Target

[Because the course will be slightly adjusted by the number of students selected, the formal teaching is based on the standard found by the teacher for the first time] 1. Course introduction (The main story has been adjusted, different from the previous version) This course will be divided into three parts: 1. Gender in medical society: Medical, disease and health problems in gender studies. In feminist society and medical society, "gender, power and medical knowledge" is a discussion topic. We will see medical relationships, male views of medical knowledge, and various problems in the social medical process from female physical diseases. Second, as a health care provider, female individuals include nursing, mother, or wife and other family caregivers. What are the special aspects of these tasks in sexual rights? In the collective level, care work belonging to women is often in the field of struggle dominated by men's professionals. For example, the pre-Japanese era of the Japanese vocational school was gradually replaced by modern medical science, with various factors involved in the science and technology society. A few weeks before this course, we will take our classmates to understand the historical and modern changes in women as assistants, and also introduce alternative views that are different from mainstream profession medicine, such as gentle production and other discussions. This course will explore the topics as follows: the relationship between contraceptive medicine and the development of Holmonic science, menopausal HRT drugs, the rise of nutritional aids and progenitor medicine (pregnancy and reproductive medicine), ultrasonic imaging and embryo resurrection meaning, etc. 3. Explore visual culture and medicine from the interdisciplinary perspectives of science, technology and society (STS) (combined with visual cultural theory). Generally speaking, the scope of visual culture to discuss is how visual images and technology (photography, movies, televisions, computers and other images) are simultaneously a field of social intervention, dominating our view of the world of interest. Visual culture research emphasizes that the media or visual technology of each element is not "transparent", but rather the field of ideology and discussion. STS research points out that scientific knowledge is part of social historical politics, and the use of scientific and technological objects can also control people's perceptions and habits. Scientific imaging can be a tool for the dominant, or a tool for the weak to speak. This course allows students to read popular science books on medical imaging - "Exposed" to understand how X-ray and ultrasound technologies can detect the history and role of detecting the disease of women. At the same time, we will also visit the Science Museum to see how popular science knowledge is spread and what science and technology and social structures are involved in their discussions.
