The student will understand about Turkey's conduct of domestic and foreign policy with respect to the Middle East from both an historical and international relations perspective. The course will span from the end of WW I to contemporary times, with focus on mainly the Israel -Arab conflict, change and continuity, what factors play a role in the shaping of relations in the Middle East and how vital national interests are safeguarded.
