本課程介紹西洋政治思想的核心與演變，期望讓學習者瞭解不同價值，進而產生具有深度的討論。上學期的討論重點在於希臘，文藝復興時期的義大利，以及社會契約。這學期重點在於自由主義，全意志，以及社會民主。首先，盧梭亟言自由可貴，不容他人將其意志強加己身。黑格爾和馬克思都受到他的影響，以融入群體做為體現自由的前提。柏克不反對這種說法，但是反對革命隱含的浪漫主義。其次要討論功利主義及其修正，以格林「自由立法」和「社會立法」的正當性探討做為結尾。

This course introduces the core and evolution of Western political thought, hoping to allow learners to understand different values ​​and then generate in-depth discussions. Last semester's discussion focused on Greece, Renaissance Italy, and the social contract. This semester focuses on liberalism, total will, and social democracy. First of all, Rousseau urgently stated that freedom is precious and does not allow others to impose their will on oneself. Both Hegel and Marx were influenced by him and regarded integration into the group as the prerequisite for freedom. Burke did not object to this statement, but to the romanticism implicit in the revolution. Secondly, we will discuss utilitarianism and its modifications, and end with Green's discussion of the legitimacy of "liberal legislation" and "social legislation".
