本課程討論傳統經濟學的效用理論在解釋物資消費，工作(休閒)選擇和跨時選擇方面的缺失；之後，從心理學、神經科及相關的研究介紹幸福學。最終介紹結合經濟學和幸福學的幸福(或快樂)經濟學。

This course discusses the shortcomings of the utility theory of traditional economics in explaining material consumption, work (leisure) choices and inter-temporal choices; then, it introduces happiness from psychology, neurology and related research. Finally, we introduce the economics of happiness (or happiness), which combines economics and happiness studies.

幸福學(或快樂學)是一門新興的跨領域學科。主要研究人們在何種情境之下才會有幸福感或快樂感。傳統經濟學認定的是物質享受的快樂，而心理學則重視人的內在的感受，神經科學夾其腦科學的進展，已經可客觀驗證人的快樂程度(快樂程度的數量化)，同時，非主流經濟學也進展到加入各種制度因素(公平感，比較壓力等)來判斷社會的快樂程度。這門課旨在綜合介紹上述各學科的觀點。

Happology (or happiness science) is an emerging interdisciplinary subject. It mainly studies the situations under which people feel happiness or joy. Traditional economics identifies the happiness of material enjoyment, while psychology pays attention to people's inner feelings. The progress of neuroscience and other brain sciences can objectively verify people's happiness (quantification of happiness). At the same time, non-mainstream economics has also progressed to include various institutional factors (sense of fairness, comparative pressure, etc.) to judge the happiness of society. This course aims to provide a comprehensive introduction to the perspectives of each of the above disciplines.
