This course discusses the shortcomings of the utility theory of traditional economics in explaining material consumption, work (leisure) choices and inter-temporal choices; then, it introduces happiness from psychology, neurology and related research. Finally, we introduce the economics of happiness (or happiness), which combines economics and happiness studies.
Happology (or happiness science) is an emerging interdisciplinary subject. It mainly studies the situations under which people feel happiness or happiness. Traditional economics identifies the happiness of material enjoyment, while psychology pays attention to people's inner feelings. The progress of neuroscience and other brain sciences can objectively verify people's happiness (quantification of happiness). At the same time, very Mainstream economics has also progressed to the point of adding various institutional factors (sense of fairness, comparative pressure, etc.) to judge the happiness of society. This course aims to provide a comprehensive introduction to the perspectives of each of the above disciplines.
