本課程介紹古羅馬的歷史，自西元前八世紀到西元五世紀，從泰伯河畔的小鎮發展成領土橫跨英國、歐洲大陸、西亞、北非的帝國。古羅馬在軍事、政治、社會組織尤其成功，包容不同的種族與人群，可謂最偉大的帝國之一。課程涵蓋早期義大利、羅馬的誕生、共和時期、屋大維時期、到羅馬後期帝國，並設有專題討論，如: 宗教、娛樂、性別、階級、以及基督教早期歷史。
This course introduces the history of ancient Rome. From the eighth century BC to the fifth century AD, it developed from a small town on the Tiber River into an empire spanning Britain, continental Europe, West Asia, and North Africa. Ancient Rome was particularly successful in its military, political, and social organization, and it tolerated different races and groups of people. It can be said to be one of the greatest empires. The course covers early Italy, the birth of Rome, the Republican period, the Octavian period, and the late Roman Empire, with special topics such as religion, entertainment, gender, class, and early Christian history.
