「舊建築再利用」已是先進國家的社會主流，其乃全世界，尤其是大都會區域致力於新舊環境結合的永續發展目標，除了物質的能源節約觀點外，舊有空間氛圍與過往歷史的連結、前人智慧的沉澱，更是形塑城市認同與自明性的關鍵所在。近數十年來，再利用已由單點的改造逐步邁向整體空間再造的課題，透過保存，利用建築生命週期的循環，納入文化發展與空間改造。「保存」的工作是一項與時間對抗的工作，其最終目的在將建築形貌留存，並延續到未來，其涉及了形貌價值的研究、材料修復與保存的技術、以及再利用的設計。本課程的主要目標在教導同學有關舊建築再利用的概念與操作模式、修復技術的理論與實務，並將之由點而線而面擴張至城市的保存與再生。授課方式除課堂講述外，並藉由實例的參觀，使同學對舊建築再利用、修復實務與城市再生有所認知與體認。
課程內容主要分成五部分：一為保存觀念的建立，講述內容包括修復倫理與原則及其實踐。二為舊建築再利用的設計操作與實踐，包括保存的觀念及文化資產保存的基本概念與趨勢，再利用空間設計策略與案例探討，以羅浮宮、奧塞美術館、天堂書店、哨船頭的再生等為例，探討舊建築之活化與再生。三為修復技術的理論與實務，包括歷史性建築常見的損壞、保存與修理方式，工事概要建立，城市場所精神的尋找與重塑--談國定古蹟英國領事館及官邸之保存，屋面瓦作類型及修復技術，透過實務的操作經驗，讓同學了解修復實務。四為城市再生，引領同學進行城市觀察，再以巴黎、高雄哨船頭為例，介紹這兩個在歷史建築及城市保存上極具特色的案例。五為中外舊建築再利用設計手法分析報告，讓同學透過再利用案例的解析，落實上課所得，並進行分析結果之分享與討論。

"Reuse of old buildings" has become a social mainstream in advanced countries. It is a sustainable development goal that combines old and new environments all over the world, especially in metropolitan areas. In addition to the material energy conservation point of view, the connection between the old space atmosphere and the past history, and the accumulation of previous wisdom are the key to shaping the identity and self-explanation of the city. In recent decades, reuse has gradually moved from single-point renovation to the topic of overall space reconstruction. Through preservation and utilization of the cycle of the building's life cycle, it incorporates cultural development and spatial transformation. The work of "preservation" is a work against time. Its ultimate goal is to preserve the architectural form and extend it into the future. It involves the research of form value, material restoration and preservation technology, and reuse design. The main goal of this course is to teach students about the concepts and operating modes of reuse of old buildings, the theory and practice of restoration technology, and to expand it from point to line to urban preservation and regeneration. In addition to classroom lectures, the teaching method also uses case studies to enable students to gain knowledge and understanding of the reuse, restoration practices and urban regeneration of old buildings.
The course content is mainly divided into five parts: The first is the establishment of the concept of preservation, which includes the ethics and principles of restoration and its practice. The second is the design operation and practice of the reuse of old buildings, including the concept of preservation and the basic concepts and trends of cultural asset preservation. The reuse space design strategies and case studies are discussed, taking the Louvre Museum, the Musée d'Orsay, the Paradise Bookstore, and the regeneration of the Sentou Shiphead as examples to explore the activation and regeneration of old buildings. The third is the theory and practice of restoration technology, including common damage, preservation and repair methods of historic buildings, establishment of fortification outlines, search and reshaping of the spirit of urban places - talking about the preservation of the British Consulate and Official Residence, national monuments, roof tile types and restoration techniques. Through practical operation experience, students can understand the practice of restoration. The fourth part is urban regeneration, leading students to conduct urban observation, and then taking Paris and Kaohsiung Sentou Bow as examples to introduce these two distinctive cases in terms of historical architecture and urban preservation. The fifth is an analysis report on Chinese and foreign old building reuse design techniques, allowing students to implement what they learned from the class through the analysis of reuse cases, and share and discuss the analysis results.
