Modern Life: A Sociological Perspective on Senses
教育目標 Course Target
本課將藉由The Arcades Project、Ugly Feelings、Our Aesthetic Categories: Zany, Cute, Interesting、Blush: Faces of Shame、Exotic Commodities: Modern Objects and Everyday Life in China這五本分析歐美和中國的經典著作，從文化研究的視角以探討現代社會的感官及情緒經驗。另，我們特別歡迎正在進行相關研究的選修和旁聽同學，可經由當週文本漸進性地撰寫學位論文，並不定期於課堂發表並接受討論；易言之，這是一門期待可融合理論閱讀和論文寫作的課程。
This course will explore the sensory and emotional experience of modern society through the five classic works of The Arcades Project, Ugly Feelings, Our Aesthetic Categories: Zany, Cute, Interesting, Blush: Faces of Shame, Exotic Commodities: Modern Objects and Everyday Life in China from the perspective of cultural studies. In addition, we are especially welcome to the selection and listening classmates who are conducting related research. We can write academic papers in a more advanced way during the week, and publish and accept discussions in the classroom from time to time. In other words, this is a course that is expected to be a combination of rational reading and writing.
