Modern Life: A Sociological Perspective on Senses
教育目標 Course Target
本課將藉由The Arcades Project、Ugly Feelings、Our Aesthetic Categories: Zany, Cute, Interesting、Blush: Faces of Shame、Exotic Commodities: Modern Objects and Everyday Life in China這五本分析歐美和中國的經典著作，從文化研究的視角以探討現代社會的感官及情緒經驗。另，我們特別歡迎正在進行相關研究的選修和旁聽同學，可經由當週文本漸進性地撰寫學位論文，並不定期於課堂發表並接受討論；易言之，這是一門期待可融合理論閱讀和論文寫作的課程。
This course will explore the sensory and emotional experiences of modern society from the perspective of cultural studies through five classic works that analyze Europe, America and China: The Arcades Project, Ugly Feelings, Our Aesthetic Categories: Zany, Cute, Interesting, Blush: Faces of Shame, and Exotic Commodities: Modern Objects and Everyday Life in China. In addition, we particularly welcome elective and auditing students who are conducting relevant research. They can gradually write dissertations through the texts of the week, and publish and accept discussions in class from time to time. In other words, this is a course that is expected to integrate theoretical reading and thesis writing.
