This course analyzes the rise, fall, divisions and mergers of political parties in France. In this regard, the multi-party and polarized party ecology is a key point. In terms of personal factors, de Gaulle, Mitterrand and Macron successively set the trend. In addition, ideology plays a key role, and to this day, far-left and far-right parties still enjoy significant voter support. The electoral system is another variable that provides constraints on the competition between major and minor political parties on the left and right. Recently, party deorganization has become an important issue in French party politics.

本課程探討法國政黨政治的源起和選民基礎。重點在於第五共和時期相關政黨的政策走向，選舉成績，結盟問題，以及衍生影響。

Like Taiwan, France has a polarized party system. Besides left wing and right wing parties, the extreme right, namely the National Front (FN) has become a major party. This course would like to explore the development of French party politics during the past 60 years. There are three major topics, including electoral base, party coalition and campaign strategy.

This course explores the origins and voter base of party politics in France. The focus is on the policy trends, electoral results, alliance issues, and derivative effects of relevant political parties during the Fifth Republic.
