本課程預設修習者對於社會科學哲學已有基礎認知，課程重心將放在研究設計(research design)以及實際操作上。研究法本質上乃實作導向課程，理想狀態下，修習者應能透過本課程確立自身研究方向，建立學位研究計畫雛形，以利於碩士/博士班研修過程中逐步實現。本課程希望能協助學生找到有趣且值得研究的題目，其次，本課程希望能讓學生對於研究策略有更清楚的理解，最後，本課程期望能向學生介紹政治學領域重要的研究方法。The pre-students of this course have a basic understanding of social science philosophy, and the focus of the course will be on research design and actual operations. The essential nature of the research method is a practical guide course. Under ideal conditions, practitioners should be able to establish their own research direction through this course and establish a scientific research plan to facilitate the gradual realization of the juvenile/doctoral class training process. This course hopes to help students find interesting and worthy of research. Secondly, this course hopes to give students a clearer understanding of research strategies. Finally, this course hopes to introduce important research methods in the field of political science to students.
針對政治學中主要的領域及其研究作廣泛介紹，除了對現階段政治理論作批判外，也介紹現階段的各種研究方法以及新的研究發展方向。本課程除了可以豐富學生的研究視野，也可以奠定研究的基礎。除了讓學生瞭解目前研究的主要潮流外，對於學生將來研究的定向，也具有指標性和引導性。
