教育目標 Course Target

The purpose of this course is to develop English communication and presentation skills by performing activities that promote, protect, and improve society. The semester will be divided into four sections, each section taking four weeks of class to explore one social topic and complete a social service project executed in English. Each section will include four sessions: (1) introduction to topic and planning sessions using group discussion in English, (2) group research, discussion, and exchange of information in English to support the topic, (3) execution of social action using English to work with classmates and perform a social action, and (4) formal presentation using multimedia in English to report results and critique projects. Some possible topics are animals, the environment, homeless, children without families, the sick, aged, world peace and/or media influence. Students do not need previous experience with social volunteerism, but they must display a motivation to use English in their projects, to cooperate with a group, to be a group leader at least once, and to affect society in positive ways.
