本課程是對上世紀在中國思想界具有重大影響，並對中國近代社會政治、文化轉型產生直接作用和深遠影響的主要政治文化思潮發展脈絡的梳理和主要思想家人物，及其思想主張的介紹。課程以思潮特徵分類，把講述重點放在五四後期中國思想界出現的激進主義、保守主義和自由主義三大思想流派的分野上，考察其各自的形態、特徵和演進軌跡，乃至在當今思想文化領域的反映。課程所探索的主要問題包括：中國近代的社會轉型中的東西方文化衝突，以及中國思想界對外來文化的吸納、調適和改造。文化保守主義對重建中國文化價值的努力，中國激進主義文化運動對中國文化傳統轉換及對中國社會變革的影響，中國自由主義的特點及在現今歷史條件下的發展，以及三大思潮之間的互相依存、制衡和互動關係考察等，以期引導同學對當今全球化加快的進程中，不同的文化傳統如何參與現代社會的建構，中國如何走出社會和文化轉型的困頓作出思考。
通過此課程學習，學生應掌握的知識能力我們這門課程與一般的介紹歷史知識的課程是有所不同的，一般的歷史課程重點在敘述歷史現象和事件，也即告訴你歷史過程是什麼，曾經發生過什麼事。而我們這門課程，不僅告訴你歷史現象和過程是什麼，更重要的是回答你中國近代歷史的發展為什麼會發生這樣的現象，為什麼是這樣的一個過程？正因為此，我們這門課程將關注的重心放在引領歷史進程背後的思想、思潮上，回答的不僅為是什麼，還要努力去探究為什麼，這是更深層次的思考。This course is a review of the major political and cultural thought development elements that have had a significant impact on the previous century in the Chinese ideological circle, and have a direct and profound impact on China's modern social politics and cultural transformation, as well as the introduction of the main thinkers and their ideological initiatives. The course classifies the characteristics of thought, and focuses on the division of the three major schools of thought, including radicalism, conservativeism and liberalism that emerged in the Chinese ideological community in the late May Fourth Movement, examining their respective forms, characteristics and evolution, and even reflecting in the current ideological and cultural fields. The main issues explored in the course include: the cultural conflicts between the East and the West in the modern social transformation of China, as well as the absorption, adaptation and transformation of foreign cultures by the Chinese ideological community. Cultural conservatism has made efforts to rebuild China's cultural value, China's impact on the transformation of Chinese cultural traditions and on the transformation of Chinese social changes, the characteristics of Chinese liberalism and its development under the current historical conditions, and the interdependence, checks and balances and interactions between the three major thoughts, etc., in order to guide students to think about how different cultural traditions participate in the construction of modern society in the process of accelerating globalization today, and how China can get out of the difficulties of social and cultural transformation.
Through this course learning, the knowledge abilities that students should master. This course is different from the general course that introduces historical knowledge. The general history course focuses on describing historical phenomena and events, that is, telling you what the historical process is and what has happened. And our course not only tells you what the historical phenomena and process are, but more importantly, it answers why the development of modern Chinese history has occurred and why is it such a process? Because of this, we focus on the thoughts and trends behind the course of leading the history. We should not only answer what it is, but also try to explore why. This is a deeper level of thinking.
