本課程目標在於使修課同學繼「兩漢學術概論」課程之後，能理解漢帝國崩潰之後中國士人思考帝國存在之理論基礎，重新檢視兩漢黃老思想中的「天德」觀念，提出面對龐大的帝國政治，一個最理想的帝王應該具備什麼樣的生命境界？並且在儒家的「名教」與道家的「自然」二者之間應該採取什麼樣的態度？劉劭、王弼、阮籍、嵇康、郭象 等人的才性論與玄論，以及魏晉清談的內容是本課程的重點。

The goal of this course is to enable students following the "Introduction to Han Dynasty Academics" course to understand the theoretical basis of Chinese scholars' thinking about the existence of empires after the collapse of the Han Empire, re-examine the concept of "Heavenly Virtue" in the thoughts of Huang and Lao in the Han Dynasty, and propose what kind of life realm an ideal emperor should have in the face of huge imperial politics. And what attitude should be adopted between the Confucian "faith religion" and the Taoist "nature"? The focus of this course is the talent theory and metaphysical theory of Liu Shao, Wang Bi, Ruan Ji, Ji Kang, Guo Xiang and others, as well as the content of Qing Tan in the Wei and Jin Dynasties.
