資源枯竭是自然資源的使用形式超出其替代率，永續發展是一種資源利用模式，旨在滿足人類需求，同時保護環境，在現代及未來世代都滿足這些資源使用需求。由於人口成長及工業化導致資源環境惡化，全世界的環境問題正在迅速增加。課程目的了解自然資源枯竭的原因和影響，可能的緩解之道不僅在環境管理策略，也在綠色生活的實踐。探討台灣在此議題上現象及行動方案。永續發展的終極目的是生態完整、經濟效益及公平。藉由課程帶領同學與極端氣候變遷及資源枯竭建立永續社會契約，落實實際參與的永續性行動，累積生態系統與社會系統知識價值，守護人類福祉及環境永續。

Resource depletion is the use of natural resources beyond their replacement rate. Sustainability is a pattern of resource use that aims to meet human needs while protecting the environment and meeting these resource use needs in the present and future generations. Environmental problems are increasing rapidly around the world due to the deterioration of resources and environment caused by population growth and industrialization. The purpose of the course is to understand the causes and impacts of natural resource depletion, and possible mitigation methods not only in environmental management strategies, but also in the practice of green living. Discuss Taiwan’s phenomenon and action plans on this issue. The ultimate goal of sustainable development is ecological integrity, economic efficiency and fairness. Through the course, students are led to establish a sustainable social contract with extreme climate change and resource depletion, implement practical sustainability actions, accumulate the value of knowledge about ecosystems and social systems, and protect human well-being and environmental sustainability.
