教育目標 Course Target
1、生物資訊學為跨領域學科,其學術論文的閱讀,難度相對較高。本課程將選擇若干學術論文,由授課教師詳細解說,並營照成一門師生充分討論、互動的課程。
2、本課程的另一目標在讓學生了解若干較新的學術問題。
3、本學期將選擇與 Sequence libraries that cover all k-mers 相關的學術論文。
4、該主題的意義: Protein-DNA, protein-RNA, 與 protein-peptide 的binding,驅動了幾乎所有的細胞活動。具備Sequence libraries that cover all k-mers,可以全面且不偏地研究這些binding。
5、該主題面臨的挑戰:較大的k值,可以更深入地聊解這些binding,但卻面臨了一個難題:k-mers 的個數,會隨著k值的增大,而呈指數型態增加,有限的實驗設施因而無法容納。
1. Bioinformatics is an interdisciplinary subject, and reading its academic papers is relatively difficult. This course will select a number of academic papers, which will be explained in detail by the instructor, and turned into a course with full discussion and interaction between teachers and students.
2. Another goal of this course is to let students understand some newer academic issues.
3. This semester, academic papers related to Sequence libraries that cover all k-mers will be selected.
4. The significance of this topic: The binding of Protein-DNA, protein-RNA, and protein-peptide drives almost all cellular activities. With Sequence libraries that cover all k-mers, these bindings can be studied comprehensively and unbiasedly.
5. Challenges faced by this topic: Larger k values can allow for deeper understanding of these bindings, but they face a problem: the number of k-mers will increase exponentially as the k value increases, and limited experimental facilities cannot accommodate it.
