本課程的主要有三個學習目標：一是修習本課程後，能對陽明學的義理、重要論題與歷史演變，有基本的認識，並從此思索陽明學的特質及其理學史中的定位。二是能具備獨立研讀相關文獻的能力，以此作為研究陽明學乃至宋明理學的基礎。三是能以陽明學為對象，具有深刻的主題意識，發掘研究課題，並具有獨立完成論文寫作的能力。陽明學始源於明中葉，風行至清初。在傳入日本與韓國後，在學術與政治上發揮了相當的影響力，可謂近世東亞最有活力的思潮。本課程擬先介紹王陽明這位文武合一的明代大儒與他的所處時代，進而探討陽明思想的基本關懷、核心議題及主要論題，並藉此觀察陽明學派的內部變化。另外，陽明學在東亞的發展，也是本課程關心的主題。

This course has three main learning objectives: First, after studying this course, you can have a basic understanding of the principles, important topics and historical evolution of Yangming Studies, and then think about the characteristics of Yangming Studies and its position in the history of Neo-Confucianism. The second is to have the ability to independently study relevant literature, which will serve as the basis for studying Yangming studies and even Neo-Confucianism of the Song and Ming Dynasties. The third is to be able to take Yangming Studies as the object, have a deep awareness of the theme, explore research topics, and have the ability to independently complete thesis writing. Yangming Studies originated in the middle of Ming Dynasty and became popular in the early Qing Dynasty. After being introduced to Japan and South Korea, it exerted considerable academic and political influence. It can be said to be the most dynamic ideological trend in East Asia in modern times. This course is intended to first introduce Wang Yangming, a great Confucian of the Ming Dynasty who combined civil and military forces, and his era, and then explore the basic concerns, core issues, and main themes of Yangming's thought, and use this to observe the internal changes of Yangming's school. In addition, the development of Yangming Studies in East Asia is also a topic of concern in this course.
