Aristotle on Virtue and Happiness
教育目標 Course Target
「德」(virtue, arête) 與「幸福」是古希臘哲學家從蘇格拉底，經柏拉圖，到亞里士多德均認為最重要的倫理議題。其中亞里士多德的名著《尼各馬柯倫理學》(Nicomachean Ethics)更是有關二者最為詳盡細緻、體系完備的典籍。本課程選取英譯原典部分內容，使學生從中了解亞氏倫理學中「德」與「幸福」的關係。
"Virtue" (virtue, arête) and "happiness" are the most important ethical issues considered by ancient Greek philosophers from Socrates to Plato to Aristotle. Among them, Aristotle's famous work "Nicomachean Ethics" is the most detailed and complete system of the two. This course selects parts of the original English translation to enable students to understand the relationship between "virtue" and "happiness" in Aristotle's ethics.
