社會福利行政的任務正在快速變遷之中，單單是民國一百年以後的幾年，就有全然不同的面貌。在法規方面，自從性侵害犯罪防治法和家庭暴力防治法通過後，保護服務成為重點，加上兒童少年權益保障法的修正，性侵、家暴、兒虐等所謂的113業務需聘用大量社會工作人力，卻始終人力不足。身心障礙權益保障法的修正、ICF新制的推動，身心障礙公約的上路等，也大幅增加身心障礙福利的人力。老人福利隨著高齡社會的正式到來，各項福利服務需求殷切，政府也積極因應。在社會救助領域，法令及作法傳統的貧民調查及現金濟助都改變了，各種脫貧措施愈來愈受到重視。
在經費方面，社會福利預算占中央政府各項總支出已經高居第一位，達到百分之二十三以上，佔各地方政府的預算也多在百分之十五上下。愈來愈龐大的經費要使用，也造成社會福利行政人員的壓力。
在與民間組織的互動方面也有了新形勢，政府龐大的福利經費必須與民間組織齊心推動，落實對弱勢團體的服務。但是民間組織可能各有立場，有些團體的負責人應邀擔任部會局處的委員，甚至成為民意代表，監督行政部門。社會局處得小心維持適當關係。學者專家、媒體記者乃至有需求的民眾及家屬，都是社會福利行政者必須互動的。

In terms of laws, since the adoption of the Sexual Assault Crime Prevention and Control Law and the Domestic Violence Prevention and Control Law, protection services have become the focus. With the amendment to the Law on the Protection of Rights of Children and Juveniles, the so-called 113 industries such as sexual assault, domestic violence, and abuse require a large amount of social worker manpower, which has always been insufficient. The amendment of the Law on the Protection of Disability Rights, the promotion of the ICF new system, and the launch of the Disability Agreement have also greatly increased the manpower for physical and mental welfare. With the official arrival of a high-end society, various welfare services are in high demand, and the government is also in a positive way. In the field of social assistance, the laws and traditions of civil servant investigations and cash assistance have changed, and various measures of deduction are becoming more and more important.
In terms of expenses, social welfare budgets have ranked first in the total expenditure of the central government, reaching more than 23%, and the budgets that occupy local governments are mostly around 15%. The increasingly large amount of money to be used also creates pressure on social welfare administrators.
There are also new forms of interaction with civil organizations. The government's large welfare expenses must be promoted with civil organizations to implement services to weak groups. However, private organizations may have their own positions, and some responsible persons should invite members of the Ministry’s Bureau, or even become representatives of public opinion and supervise the administrative department. The Social Bureau must be careful to maintain appropriate relations. Student experts, media reporters, and even the people and families in need are all social welfare administrators that must be interactive.
