This two-credit course is designed to give students a strong foundation in the basics of Standard English grammar and opportunities to practice presentation skills. In class there will be detailed discussions of many aspects of grammar (sentence types, clauses, phrases, punctuation, subordination, etc.). In addition, students are required to give two PPT presentations on the topics/issues in which they are interested.

On completion of this course, students should be able to
(1)enhance their oral presentation skills,
(2)recognize different types of sentences,
(3)read English texts with improved comprehension and fluency,and
(4)display a perspective on the relative importance of several ideas within a single sentence.
