對於週遭環境的認識，從我們一出生就展開了。這裡的「環境」，並不只是談狹義的自然環境，而是除了自身之外的所有人、事、物。從我們一離開母體，我們就和外部的世界產生關聯，課名中的「意識」與「省察」其實就是在提醒我們，所有我們眼前看到的現象，都要去問「是什麼」以及「為什麼」。而風險就是要我們把眼光放到未來，就算未來是非常不確定的，我們也要在考量風險之後，勇敢地做出決定。

Our understanding of the surrounding environment begins as soon as we are born. The "environment" here is not just talking about the natural environment in a narrow sense, but everyone, everything, and things except oneself. From the moment we leave our mother's body, we are related to the external world. The words "consciousness" and "introspection" in the course title actually remind us that for all the phenomena we see in front of us, we must ask "what" and "why". Risk requires us to look to the future. Even if the future is very uncertain, we must make a decision bravely after considering the risks.

在我們目前所面對的社會處境中，風險概念給我們的貢獻就在於，能夠去思考自己目前的決定以及計畫，可能會對未來產生哪些影響。於是，怎麼意識或怎麼省察我們周邊的環境，怎麼感知這個世界，也成了最重要的問題，因為這會影響我們怎麼回應這世界的行動。因此，課程當中首先是透過各種議題認識這個世界，並理解這個世界為何如其所是，然後才能設想未來，才能考慮風險，才能做出決定。

課程中會以特定的現象或技術，展現社會與世界的樣態，並讓同學們進行討論之後，再由教師授課講解，所以每週從一個問題開始，讓這些議題與自己產生關連，並思考如果自己也面對這樣的問題，可能有哪些解決方法。

In the current social situation we are facing, the contribution of the concept of risk to us is to be able to think about the impact that our current decisions and plans may have on the future. Therefore, how to be aware of or examine our surrounding environment and how to perceive the world has become the most important issue, because this will affect how we respond to the world. Therefore, the first step in the course is to understand the world through various issues and understand why the world is the way it is. Only then can we imagine the future, consider risks, and make decisions.

In the course, specific phenomena or technologies will be used to show the state of society and the world, and students will be discussed and then explained by the teacher. Therefore, each week starts with a question, allowing these issues to be related to you, and thinking about possible solutions if you also face such a problem.
