列維納斯的他者哲學乃當代西方哲學的重要課題之一，其影響範圍包含後殖民主義、女性主義、生態主義、解構主義等。透過對絕對他者的肯定，列維納斯展開對主體理論的質問。對布朗肖而言，他者哲學亦是對內建於哲學傳統中的同一性本質思考的重新反省與批判。本課程介紹列維納斯及布朗肖的他者思想，希冀藉由對「域外」在場的察覺，返回對存在主體（自我）更深一層的重識。再者，希冀藉他者哲學的辯證性討論，培育學生建構問題性思考的能力。

Levinas's philosophy of the other is one of the important topics in contemporary Western philosophy, and its scope of influence includes postcolonialism, feminism, ecologicalism, deconstruction, etc. Through the affirmation of the absolute other, Levinas launches a questioning of the theory of the subject. For Blanchot, the philosophy of the other is also a re-examination and criticism of the thinking on the nature of identity built into the philosophical tradition. This course introduces Levinas and Blanchot's thoughts on the other, hoping to return to a deeper understanding of the subject (self) of existence through the awareness of the "extraterritorial" presence. Furthermore, it is hoped that through the dialectical discussion of the philosophy of the other, students can develop their ability to construct problematic thinking.
