1. Course objectives
The purpose of this course is to provide basic knowledge and philosophical views of Buddhist cognition, and to follow the practical meaning of Buddhist cognition under the framework of the two views, focusing specifically on the requirements of causal inevitability in the secular realm, as well as the possibility of "transcendence" of causal inevitability in the actual and scheming meanings. This is particularly related to the moral philosophy issues that are compatible or incompatible between contemporary decision theory and free will.
2. Course content
(1) In the Buddhist cognition, we start from Chen Na's theory of causality and judging, and use Chen Na to inherit the key contribution of the new Buddhist cognition and judging in the development of Buddhist cognition and judging, and understand the main problem and meaning of the Buddhist cognition and judging. (2) In addition to mastering the role played by Chen Na's cognitive theory system in the internal development of Buddhism, we also try to draw points from this to respond to the understanding of contemporary ethics problems. (3) In terms of literature research, we have mastered the essentials of Chen Na's understanding through Hattori Masaki's articles and the "Collective Discussions" translations, and also summarized the unique and lively philosophical power of Buddhist cognition that can be demonstrated in the original texts from the literary contributions of Hattori Masaki's planning era.
