音樂與劇場的關係密不可分，不同文化系統的表演藝術、卻幾乎相同的都在起源階段緊密結合歌舞表現。時至今日，表演藝術最時興的趨勢更在跨類、跨領域方面展現極高能量，音樂劇場發展成為類型譜表上的重要指標。透過這門課讓學生了解各類以音樂為表現主體的劇場形式，探究其理論基礎與發展背景，旁觸劇場音樂設計的美學概念。此外，更透過實際參訪業內進行中的相關製作，了解音樂劇場實務現況，拓展學生對音樂劇、歌劇、劇場音樂之延伸認知。

The relationship between music and theater is inseparable. The performing arts of different cultural systems are almost the same in their origins and are closely integrated with singing and dancing. Today, the most popular trend in the performing arts has shown extremely high energy in cross-category and cross-field aspects, and musical theater has developed into an important indicator on the genre spectrum. Through this course, students can understand various theater forms with music as the main expression, explore their theoretical basis and development background, and gain exposure to the aesthetic concepts of theater music design. In addition, through actual visits to relevant productions in progress in the industry, students can learn about the current situation of musical theater and expand students' extended understanding of musicals, operas, and theater music.
