本課程以西方自由哲學為主軸，據亞里士多德(Aristotle)、奧古斯丁(Augustine)、霍布斯(T. Hobbes)、笛卡兒(R. Descartes)、休謨(D. Hume)相關文典，了解其中有關機遇(chance)和非決定論(indeterminism)、自由與必然(liberty and necessity)、決定論(determinism)、自由意志(free will)等思想學說；進而探討這些思想與當代主張自由意志、決定論、道德責任三者之間相容論(compatibilism)與不相容論(incompatibilism)的關聯。

This course mainly focuses on Western free philosophy, including Aristotle, Augustine, T. Hobbes, R. Descartes, D. Hume related essays, and understanding the relevant opportunities and indeterminism, liberty and necessity, determinism, and free will. Will and other ideological studies; then explore the relationship between these ideas and incompatible arguments and incompatible arguments between contemporary proactive free will, decisions and moral responsibility.
