此一課程在藉由同學們最為熟悉的日常居住出發，用社會科學的角度了解城市居住的形態，更進一步的了解個人居住選擇與群體生活模式以及社會制度的關係，最後透過小組研究、文獻比較等從城市觀察延伸到理論辯證與驗證。課程以分組討論和實際做都市研究為主，全班授課主要在研究議題發想、資料收集方法、描述統計分析與呈現。另外會針對個別小組討論各自感興趣的主題，相關議題的文獻則會透過研究過程中指導同學搜尋方式，讓同學自行探索有興趣的文獻，希望同學透過都觀察記錄城市居住與生態，對城市有新的認知，對都市社會學或都市研究產生進一步的興趣。課堂完成後同學應學會有系統的觀察城市，並對城市研究中涉及都市社會學、都市地理學、都市規劃的部份有進一步的了解。

This course uses the most familiar daily living development for classmates, and uses the perspective of social science to understand the shape of urban living, and further understand the relationship between personal living options and group life patterns and social systems. Finally, it extends from urban observation to theoretical certification and verification through group research and literary comparison.課程以分組討論和實際做都市研究為主，全班授課主要在研究議題發想、資料收集方法、描述統計分析與呈現。 In addition, we will discuss topics of interest to each other for a group. The relevant topics will guide students' search methods through the research process, so that students can explore interesting literature by themselves. We hope that students will observe and record urban residence and ecology through everyone, have new knowledge of the city, and have further interest in urban society or urban research.課堂完成後同學應學會有系統的觀察城市，並對城市研究中涉及都市社會學、都市地理學、都市規劃的部份有進一步的了解。
