How did the world begin, and where did we come from? What is wrong with the world, and why is there evil and suffering? What can be done to make things better? These three questions comprise the heart of a worldview. Our worldviews determine the goals and ideals we pursue in life. Differences in worldviews are the root cause of a great deal of the conflict in the world.

This course analyzes the Christian worldview. Christianity is the world’s largest religion, with 2.4 billion members. Its primary source, the Bible, is by far the most read and translated book in history. And Christian faith was what prompted the founding of Tunghai University. But what is the Bible all about, and what do Christians actually believe? Together we will examine the key texts and concepts of the Christian faith. The class will be conducted in English.

Upon completion of the course, students will be able to:
1.Analyze and compare worldviews using the simple grid of creation-fall-redemption;
2.Understand and summarize the storyline of the Bible, including creation, the history of Israel, the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the church age, and the future; and
3.Understand and explain the core doctrines of the historic Christian faith.
