教學目的：
（一）這門課以有一年以上大學文學訓練，但非主修西洋文學的同學為對象
（二）以歐洲與美國文學為主。約略按歷史發展，選讀難度適中的詩歌與小說
（三）冀望同學能對西方的文學經驗與傳統有具體的認識與了解
主要內容：
（一）文學與文化史簡介：從希臘羅馬到十八世紀
（二）作品精讀：十九世紀浪漫主義以降至二十世紀中葉的代表性作家作品
（小說念中文譯本，詩則英詩以原文為主，其他語言仍讀中譯）

Teaching purposes:
(1) This course is aimed at students who have more than one year of university literature training, but are not majoring in Western literature.
(2) Mainly European and American literature. Roughly based on historical development, select poems and novels of moderate difficulty
(3) We hope that students can have a specific knowledge and understanding of Western literary experience and traditions.
Main content:
(1) Introduction to literary and cultural history: from Greece and Rome to the eighteenth century
(2) Intensive reading of works: representative works of writers from the romanticism of the 19th century to the mid-20th century
(For novels, read the Chinese translation, for poems in English, the original text is the main text, and for other languages, read the Chinese translation)

（二）小說：莫泊桑、契柯夫、卡夫卡、卡繆短篇。
（三）劇本：曾珍珍，劉毓秀合譯《希臘悲劇》
(四）文學史：呂健忠、李奭學編譯《西洋文學概論》

(1) Poetry: Holderlin, Wordsworth, Shelley, Keats, Whitman, Baudelaire
(2) Novels: short stories by Maupassant, Chekhov, Kafka and Camus.
(3) Script: "Greek Tragedy" co-translated by Zeng Zhenzhen and Liu Yuxiu
(4) Literary History: "Introduction to Western Literature" compiled by Lu Jianzhong and Li Xixue
