We look at the history and cultural background of music aesthetics, as well as main artists, composers, literati, philosophers. This course is divided into three parts. We first read the 19th -century famous music review Hanslick's book "On the Beauty of Music", a often misunderstood, important works in the history of music aesthetics. We then discuss the relationship between romanticism, romantic spirit and music aesthetics; read books include Schumann and many contemporary writers (such as Jean Paul, Eta Hofmann). This course ends in modern music: Discuss the philosopher Adorno, which is connected to how the 20th -century composer (such as Debussy, Stravinsky) connects the transformation of the elements of avant -garde in modern music with the transition of music aesthetics.
