因為網路科技的發達,造就了沉浸在數位世界的網路青年、甚至網路老年。這種發展,讓主流社會輿論把握每次重大社會事件(例如,隨機殺人),批評虛擬世界對青少年身心的危害。網路世界當真是罪惡的淵藪嗎?
不,它讓我們過得更快樂、更便捷,更環保(電子公文、電子書...)、更有創意(學習),甚至創造出更多工作機會(ACG產業;學術研究議題)。一切看起來都那麼美好,不只是青少年,連大人們的世界也都因此受益!那些人又有什麼好狗吠的呢!
是啊,就經濟效用性質來看,數位科技的應用與壯大,幾乎是無可批評,也無法阻擋的;但正如動漫鋼之鍊金術師所凸顯的,這個世界是根據等價交換法則在運作的。我們因網路世界而有所得,但也終將因為沉浸其中而有所失。那麼,究竟我們將因此得到什麼,失去什麼?是得不償失呢?還是一椿高CP值的交易呢?恐怕就得冷靜下來好好思考了。
本課程就依著上述的等價交換原則,將數位世界放在虛擬世界這個更大的概念架構下,跨學科地結合社會學、心理學、哲學等觀點,佐以熱門的動漫、網路資訊及田野調查,探究網路世界的利弊得失,以期同學們能對數位世界對實際生活的影響,有更深入的體會。
Because of the development of Internet technology, Internet youth and even Internet elders are immersed in the digital world. This development has allowed mainstream public opinion to grasp every major social event (such as random killings) and criticize the harm that virtual worlds have on young people's bodies and minds. Is the Internet world really a source of evil?
No, it makes us live happier, more convenient, more environmentally friendly (electronic documents, e-books...), more creative (learning), and even creates more job opportunities (ACG industry; academic research topics). Everything looks so good, not just teenagers, but the world of adults is benefiting from it! Those people have nothing to bark about!
Yes, in terms of the nature of economic utility, the application and growth of digital technology is almost irresistible and unstoppable; but as the anime Fullmetal Alchemist highlights, this world operates according to the law of equivalent exchange. We gain something from the online world, but we will eventually lose something by being immersed in it. So, what exactly will we gain and lose from this? Is it more gain than loss? Or is it a transaction with a high CP value? I'm afraid I have to calm down and think carefully.
Based on the above-mentioned principle of equivalent exchange, this course places the digital world within the larger conceptual framework of the virtual world, interdisciplinaryly combines sociology, psychology, philosophy and other perspectives, and uses popular animations, online information and field surveys to explore the pros and cons of the online world, in the hope that students can have a deeper understanding of the impact of the digital world on real life.
