當代藝術及設計領域的發展非常蓬勃，這是由於知識的普及、全球化經濟、跨文化交流皆達到空前的發達與繁榮，再加上新數位網路媒體科技的快速進展，「藝術、設計與科技」(Art, Design & Technology)已經成為當代顯學，當全球經濟步入文化創意驅動的生產消費模式時，藝術與設計的融通整合已是新常態的一環節，也應是大學通識教育不可忽視的實踐性知識範疇。

東海大學是全台唯一設有完整設計與藝術系所的高等教育學府， 包括建築、工業設計、景觀、美術、音樂五系所及新成立的表演藝術及創作碩士學位學程，各系所/學程皆有獨特表現及學習重點，十年前這五系所組成創意設計暨藝術學院，也努力於跨系所整合，逐漸在設計藝術教育上摸索新的跨界創新可能性。 今年正好是創藝學院成立十周年，因此重開此課程，介紹與探討當代設計藝術思潮創作方向與教學實驗之回顧。 本院修課同學可藉此了解院內友系教學特色及跨專業溝通方式，更歡迎非本院同學修習本課程，可對當代設計及藝術專業學習與創作模式獲得一基礎性了解。

The field of contemporary art and design is developing very vigorously. This is due to the unprecedented development and prosperity of knowledge, global economy, and cross-cultural exchanges. Coupled with the rapid development of new digital network media technology, "Art, Design & Technology" (Art, Design & Technology) Technology) has become a prominent contemporary science. When the global economy enters a production and consumption model driven by cultural creativity, the integration of art and design has become a part of the new normal. It should also be a practical knowledge category that cannot be ignored in university general education.

Tunghai University is the only higher education institution in Taiwan that has a complete design and art department, including five departments of architecture, industrial design, landscape, fine arts, and music, as well as the newly established master's degree program in performing arts and creative writing. Each department/program has its own unique performance and learning focus. Ten years ago, these five departments formed the School of Creative Design and Art. They also strive to integrate across departments and gradually explore new cross-border innovation possibilities in design art education. This year happens to be the tenth anniversary of the establishment of the School of Creative Arts, so this course is re-opened to introduce and discuss the creative direction of contemporary design art trends and a review of teaching experiments. Students taking courses in our college can use this to understand the teaching characteristics and inter-professional communication methods of friendly departments within the college. Students from outside our college are also welcome to take this course and gain a basic understanding of the learning and creation models of contemporary design and art majors.
