This course introduces music from Baroque to early classical periods. The topics discussed include the main contemporary musical forms, styles, and composition structures, as well as the relationship between music and political, cultural and social backgrounds at that time.
This course textbook is Burkholder/Grout/Palisca, A History of Western Music (8th Edition), and includes the Norton anthology, 7th edition attached to this book.
