※課程目標及內涵 (Course Objectives and Contents)
「社會思想史」課程介紹社會學興起前的重要思想，作為未來修習「社會學 理論」課程的必要預備。社會學發展過程中具有重要影響力的理論創新，都不斷從思想史的浩瀚海洋汲取靈感，重新發現經典，因而任何有學分上限的思想史課 程，必然都是片面和側重的。本課程包含課程講授及經典讀書會兩部分：（1）課程講授選擇 Alan Ryan 的政治思想通史《論政治》為上課教材，該書以「人如何治理自身？」的追問為出發點，貫穿綿延2500年的政治思想史，提供政治思想史的梗概；（2）經典讀書會採自主學習方式，由助教帶領精讀重要經典。 預期學生透過前述兩個部分的學習，※Course Objectives and Contents
The "History of Social Thought" course introduces important ideas before the rise of social science and is a necessary preparation for the future course of "Social Theory". Theoretical innovations that have important influence in the development of social science always draw spiritual sense from the vast ocean of intellectual history and rediscover classics. Therefore, any course in ideological history with a limit on academic scores must be one-sided and side-oriented. This course includes two parts of the course lecture and classic reading session: (1) Class lectures select Alan Ryan's general history of political thought "Politics" as the premiere textbook. The book takes the question of "How do people govern themselves?" as the starting point, and it travels through the history of political thought that has been extended for 2,500 years, providing an overview of the history of political thought; (2) Classic reading sessions adopt independent learning methods, and the assistant teacher leads the reading of important classics. I expect students to learn through the two parts mentioned above.
