The intent of this course is to bridge the gap between theory and practice in the context of engineering design. Students will be exposed to various aspects of designing a chemical process. Equipment design, process feasibility, economics, and safety issues will be addressed.

Tasks in Process Design, Phase Equilibrium in Process Design, Selection of Thermodynamic Models in Process Simulation, Economic Analysis, Reactor System Design, Separation System Design, Guidelines for Safety-oriented Process Design, Control Issues, Industrial Case Study, Process Optimization, and Design Project Presentation.
