二十一世紀已進入腦力及國力，腦力及競爭力的世紀，美國歐巴馬政府於2013 年提出brain initiative 計畫大力鼓勵腦科學的研究，世界各國也莫不投入大筆人力與財力來推動腦科學的研究。因此，對於大腦的了解與認知，儼然成為現代人的重要課題。大腦是一個複雜且充滿神奇的構造，人腦中含有約100 billions的神經細胞，這些神經形成獨立的功能區與連結，並且執行複雜的生理功能，了解大腦的神經組成及構造，不但可以滿足人類對於神奇大腦的好奇心，亦可透過對於大腦結構與功能的認識，進一步了解人類的行為的產生及大腦病變的成因，這些知識將可作為同學未來研究基礎神經科學、行為學、神經及精神醫學的基礎。

The 21st century has entered a century of brain power, national strength, brain power and competitiveness. The Obama administration of the United States proposed the brain initiative in 2013 to strongly encourage research in brain science. Countries around the world have also invested large sums of manpower and financial resources to promote research in brain science. Therefore, understanding and cognition of the brain has become an important issue for modern people. The brain is a complex and magical structure. The human brain contains about 100 Billions of nerve cells, these nerves form independent functional areas and connections, and perform complex physiological functions. Understanding the neural composition and structure of the brain can not only satisfy human curiosity about the magical brain, but also further understand the generation of human behavior and the causes of brain lesions through understanding of the structure and function of the brain. This knowledge will serve as the basis for students to study basic neuroscience, behavior, neurological and psychiatric medicine in the future.
