透過選讀重要西方哲學家：亞里士多德、霍布斯、笛卡爾、斯賓諾莎、洛克、萊布尼茲、休謨與自由概念有關之原著，了解西方自由哲學思想要旨。

Through the selection of the original works related to the concept of freedom, we can understand the essence of Western free philosophy through the original works related to the important Western philosophers: Aristotle, Hobbes, Descartes, Sphereza, Locke, Lebniz, and the concept of freedom.

本課之目的在讓哲學系學士班同學在經過數年的哲學基礎訓練後，能在西洋哲學之專題上對所學的內容與方法作綜合的應用，即就哲學的一個專題來閱讀與思考，並寫成報告，可以為日後進一步的研究奠定基礎。西洋哲學的專題包括：（1）希臘哲學；（2）中世紀哲學；（3）英國經驗論；（4）歐陸理性論；（5）德國觀念論；（6）當代英美哲學；（7）當代歐陸哲學。授課教師可就任一專題設計課題程。

The purpose of this course is to allow students in the philosophy department to comprehensively apply the content and methods they have learned in Western philosophy topics after several years of philosophical basic training, that is, to read and think about a philosophy topic and write a report, which can lay the foundation for further research in the future. The topics of Western philosophy include: (1) Greek philosophy; (2) medieval philosophy; (3) British experience; (4) European rationality; (5) German conception; (6) contemporary British and American philosophy; (7) contemporary European philosophy. The teacher can design the course for any topic.
