透過簡報、影片及文章與作品分析等深入淺出的介紹或導讀方式，帶領學生了解台灣美術個時期發展脈絡、美學特色與藝術家創作風格，以及各時代政治、社會、經濟等所牽動影響美術發展的重要議題討論。尋求與土地認同歸依的體認及與世界接軌的基點，並自主性思考研究台灣美術史根植於自己土地、人民及歷史的建構。

Through in-depth introductions or guided readings such as briefings, videos, articles and works analysis, students will be led to understand the development context of Taiwan's art in each period, aesthetic characteristics and artists' creative styles, as well as discussions on important issues affecting the development of art in various eras such as politics, society, and economy. Seeking the recognition of identity with the land and the basis for integration with the world, and independently thinking and studying the construction of Taiwan's art history rooted in its own land, people and history.

本課程的討論主要含括：

(2)漢人移民與清代的台灣藝術
(3)日治時代的台灣藝術
(4)二次大戰後的台灣藝術
(5)現代主義的引進
(6)八0年代的鄉土運動辯論
(7)美術館與畫廊時代的來臨─八0年代以後的台灣藝術

The discussion in this course mainly includes:
(1) Prehistoric times and aboriginal culture
(2) Han immigrants and Taiwanese art in the Qing Dynasty
(3) Taiwanese art during the Japanese colonial period
(4)Taiwanese art after World War II
(5)The introduction of modernism
(6) The rural movement debate in the 1980s
(7) The advent of the era of art museums and galleries - Taiwanese art after the 1980s
