Course Target:

A brief explanation of the content of the course:
"Family" is a changing concept under different social and cultural ties and times. In the modernization process under the guidance of the 19th Century Industrial Capitalism, from the perspective of functional, the family is positioned and separated into the private domain of laborers' rest and reproduction. However, the emerging family needs and problems have contributed to the development of family policies and welfare services in the 20th century European and American countries.
"Family Policy" is a policy, support, supplement and replace the actions and behaviors of the family field through the country's legal system and services. Why are family policies and welfare services needed to intervene in private family life? What is the historical background of the development of family policy? What is the relationship between the formulation and implementation of family policies and the changes in family, economy, politics and society? Who is the main body of family policy? What does the family policy include? What are the relationships between gender, race, level and family policy? These are all the topics that are concerned and discussed in this course.
This course focuses on teaching and discussion. The first and second parts are discussed and evolved from the meaning of the family, the changes in family structure and family functions, the division of labor between the country, the market and the family, and the connotation, development and evolution of family policies. The third part is based on Taiwan's related family welfare policies. By comparing the thinking, connotation and welfare services of family policies in different countries, it can improve the design of students' understanding of family policies under different cultures, society and economic connections. The fourth part discusses, analyzes and criticizes specific family issues from the perspectives of gender, race, level, etc., and students conduct in-depth discussions on the criticism of specific family issues, needs and policy factors in our country through reports.
