本課程的目標在於使學生瞭解「文化研究」（Cultural Studies）的主要理論、處理的議題、觀察的對象、使用的研究方法，以及相關議題與論述方法在中國文學、現當代華語語系文學批評上的應用與實踐。聚焦探討的範疇與議題為：
1.知識與權力:結構主義、後結構主義
2.文化認同:主體、歷史建構
3.文化地理學:空間、城市、地方
4.後現代文化:擬像、懷舊、大眾文化

The goal of this course is to enable students to understand the main theories, topics dealt with, objects of observation, and research methods used in "Cultural Studies", as well as the application and practice of related topics and discussion methods in Chinese literature and modern and contemporary Chinese-language literary criticism. The areas and topics focused on are:
1. Knowledge and power: structuralism, poststructuralism
2. Cultural identity: subject and historical construction
3. Cultural geography: space, city, place
4. Postmodern culture: simulacra, nostalgia, popular culture
