本課程之目標，除促進修習「都市計畫學程」的學生能夠了解都市與區域問題形成背景及其發展趨勢外，更希望幫助學生進行全方位與多層次的思考，進而培養台灣都市及區域的永續發展政策之人才。

The goal of this course is not only to help students studying the "Urban Planning Program" understand the background and development trends of urban and regional issues, but also to help students think in an all-round and multi-level way, thereby cultivating talents for sustainable development policies in Taiwan's cities and regions.

本課程旨在使大學部學生；尤其修習「都市計畫學程」之學生了解都市問題形成背景及其可能之發展趨勢，並且介紹都市發展理論，藉以有效控制都市問題之衍化，尤其塑造永續都市提供思維架構。因此，希望學生透過本課之修習，都市概念、都市化與都市問題、都市問題形成原因、都市問題之對策與方案、都市發展理論與應用、都市更新與再生與永續都市的思維架構等，有關都市及區域政策之基本概念。

This course aims to enable undergraduate students, especially students studying the "Urban Planning Program", to understand the background of urban problems and their possible development trends, and to introduce urban development theory, so as to effectively control the evolution of urban problems, especially to provide a thinking framework for shaping a sustainable city. Therefore, we hope that through the study of this course, students will gain basic concepts related to urban and regional policies such as urban concepts, urbanization and urban problems, causes of urban problems, countermeasures and solutions to urban problems, urban development theory and application, urban renewal and regeneration, and the thinking framework of sustainable cities.
