his course sets out to explore grounds for the argument that there is an emerging field of NGO management, and to examine the key management challenges faced by development NGOs. These NGO management challenges follow from the types of roles and strategies being undertaken by different kinds of NGOs in the struggle against poverty. There are three main purposes as follows: (1) the delivery of new or improved services to sections of communities which are in need. (2) efforts to catalyse social, economic and political change processes at the level of group or individual action.
