產品語意學乃是研究人造物的形態,在使用情境中的象徵特性,並應用此這知識於工業設計上。設計師作為一個賦予產品造形的主要作用者(設計專業者),掌握產品意義是必要的。同時也應具有賦予產品造形上意義的能力。產品的設計過程中,特別是對於型態的表達與應用,絕不該是來自設計師天馬行空、胡言亂語的表徵。產品做為媒介與器物應該真實的反應其產品的特性與意涵,以此連結使用者。因此本課程的目標即在於有系統的引導學生,使學生能明確的思考與探討與產品造形表徵的呈現方式。Product language is to study the shape of man-made objects, the symbolic characteristics in the use situation, and to apply this knowledge to industrial design. As a designer (designer) who provides product shape as the main actor (designer), it is necessary to master the meaning of the product. At the same time, it should also have the ability to give products to form meanings. In the product design process, especially for the expression and application of the model, it should never be a sign from the designer's "sky and nonsense" and "nonsense". The product should truly reflect the characteristics and meaning of its product as a medium and utensil to connect users.
