本課程承接上學年度的進度,上半學期介紹Baroque中、晚期的部份,下半學期進入古典時期,結束於古典末期。討論的課題包含當代主要的樂曲形式,風格,曲式結構,及音樂與當時政治,文化,社會背景的關聯。
本課程教科書為Burkholder/Grout/Palisca, A History of Western Music,包括本書附上的樂譜 (anthology of scores)。幾個重要的電子資料庫(如Grove Music Online, Naxos) 將輔助教科書中的內容。課程補充教材可在新版數位教學平台找到。
This course offers an introduction to the music in mid-late Baroque up to late Classic era. We will study major forms, genres, and styles of the music in these periods in relation to its cultural context, including major political, religious, and artistic trends.
Major reading and listening assignments come from our textbook, Burkholder/Grout/Palisca, A History of Western Music and the accompanying anthologies of scores. Such music resources as Grove Music Online and Naxos will supplement the CD recordings mentioned above. Additional sources such as optional readings and complementary course materials can be accessed on the course website via E-Learning.
This course follows the progress of the previous year. The first half of the school introduces the middle and late Baroque's period, and the second half of the school enters the classical period and ends at the end of the classical period. The topics discussed include the main contemporary musical forms, styles, compositions, and relationships between music and political, cultural and social backgrounds at that time.
This course textbook is Burkholder/Grout/Palisca, A History of Western Music, including the anthology of scores attached to this book. Several important electronic databases (such as Grove Music Online, Naxos) will assist in teaching and teaching. Course supplementary textbooks can be found on the new version of the digital teaching platform.
