經濟社會學是社會學學門中非常重要的分支。作為經濟學與社會學交會的學科，Richard Swedberg指出：「經濟學家與社會學家彼此需要更多交流…如果社會學家和經濟學家缺乏有效交流，僅從各自的角度分析問題而無視對方存在，對解決問題會造成許多困難，因為大多數問題並非可以輕易地按學術性質歸類。」（Swedberg, 1990）相較於經濟學，經濟社會學更重視社會關係和社會制度在經濟中的作用。
順著Swedberg的《經濟社會學原理》一書書寫脈絡，本學期將從宏觀社會視野下的經濟、經濟制度與經濟行為的社會學分析、社會學視野下的公司、組織和產業，以及經濟生活擴展至社會制度與政治制度中這四大面向，來掌握經濟社會學概要。
Economic society is a very important branch of the social science community. As a subject of economic and social interaction, Richard Swedberg notes: "Economics and sociologists need more communication with each other... If socialists and economics lack effective communication, they only analyze the problems from their respective perspectives without the existence of each other, which will cause many difficulties in solving problems, because most problems cannot be easily learned by academic nature." (Swedberg, 1990) Compared with economics, economic society pays more attention to the role of social relations and social systems in economy.
With the introduction of Swedberg's book "Principles of Economic Social Science", this school will expand from the four aspects of economic, economic system and economic behavior from the macro-society perspective, companies, organizations and industries from the social perspective, and economic life to the social system and political system to master the summary of economic social science.
