經濟社會學是社會學學門中非常重要的分支。作為經濟學與社會學交會的學科，Richard Swedberg指出：「經濟學家與社會學家彼此需要更多交流…如果社會學家和經濟學家缺乏有效交流，僅從各自的角度分析問題而無視對方存在，對解決問題會造成許多困難，因為大多數問題並非可以輕易地按學術性質歸類。」（Swedberg, 1990）相較於經濟學，經濟社會學更重視社會關係和社會制度在經濟中的作用。

順著Swedberg的《經濟社會學原理》一書書寫脈絡，本學期將從宏觀社會視野下的經濟、經濟制度與經濟行為的社會學分析、社會學視野下的公司、組織和產業，以及經濟生活擴展至社會制度與政治制度中這四大面向，來掌握經濟社會學概要。

Economic sociology is a very important branch of sociology. As a discipline at the intersection of economics and sociology, Richard Swedberg pointed out: "Economists and sociologists need more communication with each other... If sociologists and economists lack effective communication and only analyze problems from their own perspectives and ignore the existence of each other, it will cause many difficulties in solving problems, because most problems cannot be easily classified by academic nature." (Swedberg, 1990) Compared with economics, economic sociology pays more attention to the role of social relations and social institutions in the economy.

Following the writing context of Swedberg's "Principles of Economic Sociology", this semester will master the outline of economic sociology from four major aspects: sociological analysis of the economy, economic systems and economic behavior from a macro-social perspective, companies, organizations and industries from a sociological perspective, and the expansion of economic life into social systems and political systems.
