Social science is not just a social science, it is also a lesson in ethics, which should help learners better understand themselves, understand others, and recognize, respect or acknowledge the values of different cultural societies. Based on the above views, we believe that it is reasonable to participate in the learning and discussion of the course like social ethics, and it is worth the effort.
Unlike general social ethics, which focuses on the exploration of moral standards, this course neither provides teaching-style moral standards nor provides appropriate ethical requirements. Instead, it attempts to open up some practical social ethical situations, allowing learners to think about the ethical problems highlighted by these situations. In people's daily life, they may not often encounter this kind of problem. Even if they encounter it, they may think it is normal and not as thought. However, as a learning method of "causing trouble" and "making troubles on your own", social science is to achieve success and disturbing social ethics. Dealing with others makes those problems that may not have been problematic again become difficult groups, and then through personal reflections and exchanges or discussions of disagreements, the already rigid common sense or common sense is no longer so natural, and thus opening up a social world full of various possibilities.
The Thinking Sociologically book co-authored by Zygmunt Bauman and Tim May involves many aspects of social ethics issues. It also has in-depth and detailed explorations of social relations networks in daily life, and is a suitable textbook for social ethics. In this course, we will give a detailed taste of this two hundred pages of book. Students who are interested in Bauman's studies because of this book can further read his other works; in addition, social students such as Simmel, Weber, Schutz and Giddens also have related social ethics, so please refer to them in the courses.
