Taiwan Under the Japanese Colonial Rule
教育目標 Course Target
本課程是以日本殖民時期的短篇小說創作為主要文本，據此想像日據時期台灣島嶼上人們的社會、文化狀態，與精神面貌。透過文學，我們得以更具體更及人地理解殖民主義「治理」的暴力與荒謬，以及，所加諸於台人的各種明顯的與隱藏的創傷。雖然並不企圖直接討論這段歷史時期與今日的關係，但這門課所引領出來的必然是對台灣今日的戀殖狀態提出反思與批評的某些基礎。
This course is based on short stories from the Japanese colonial period, which imagines the social, cultural status, and spiritual outlook of people on the island of Taiwan during the Japanese period. Through literature, we have been able to understand the violence and absurdity of colonial "governance" more specifically and humanely, as well as the various obvious and hidden inflicted injuries added to the Taiwanese. Although we do not intend to directly discuss the relationship between this historical period and today, what this class has led to is certain foundations that reflect on and criticize Taiwan’s current breeding situation.
