「社會工作研究方法」這門課主要的教學目的包括：訓練學生在將社會及行為科學研究方法運用到社會工作實務的過程中，能夠具備最基本之瞭解；且促成學生學習從團隊合作關係中，實際進行一項與社會工作實務有關的研究設計提案；並藉由實地蒐集、分析及解釋資料，演練進行社會工作研究的各種過程。
本門課為社會工作學系三年級學生必修課之一，課程中除了介紹學生適用於社會工作實務的各種研究方法外，本課亦強調以團隊合作的方式共同完成課程學習上的要求，同時也將統計方法、個人電腦之應用、和研究方法相互整合，藉此訓練學生具備獨立思考判斷、分析探究事實的能力，進而培育以才能為取向的實務工作者為終極目的。是故，修課學生在本課程中應設定以下的學習目標：

The main teaching purposes of the course "Social Work Research Methods" include: training students to have the most basic understanding of the process of applying social and behavioral science research methods to social work practice; and enabling students to learn to actually carry out a research design proposal related to social work practice through teamwork relationships; and to practice various processes of social work research through on-site collection, analysis and interpretation of data.
This course is one of the compulsory courses for third-year students in the Department of Social Work. In addition to introducing students to various research methods applicable to social work practice, this course also emphasizes teamwork to complete the course learning requirements. It also integrates statistical methods, personal computer applications, and research methods to train students to have the ability to think independently, judge, analyze and explore facts, and then cultivate talent-oriented practitioners as the ultimate goal. Therefore, students taking this course should set the following learning goals in this course:
