台灣新紀錄片的出現，大約從1980年代中葉開始，通常追溯到王智章拍攝的海山礦災紀錄片及其後來所發起的「綠色小組」。歷史的因緣際會，由於VHS家用攝影機新工具的出現，創造了新的生產空間和表達模式，開啟了戰後台灣「人民媒體」的歷史新頁，綠色小組以「小眾媒體」的姿態，首次站在人民位置，反抗戒嚴體制支配下的主流媒體所發出的一元化、單向式的國家意識形態機器之政令宣導、收編、與進行對被統治者的馴服、洗腦、與臣屬化。
本課程的目的以歷史社會學的視野，重新系統地回溯台灣新紀錄片的興起，探討1980年代綠色小組在解嚴前後所記錄的騷動島嶼之反抗影像，配合影像佐以「台灣狂飆」的八十年代之歷史旁白，重新進行歷史脈絡化與深入詮釋。
「綠色小組」之後，1990至2000年將以「全景學派」作為討論對象，2000年之後個人化、藝術化與商業化的紀錄片興起且逐漸蔚為風潮，可與綠色小組的反抗美學構成參照與比較。析理三十年來的發展，台灣的紀錄片是否形成特有的傳統，有哪些特色和侷限之處，以及共同求索未來紀錄片作為社會實踐之可能。The emergence of Taiwan’s new record films began around the mid-1980s, and usually traced back to the Haishan Mineral Record films photographed by Wang Zhizhang and the "green group" launched later. The cause of history has been created with the emergence of new tools for VHS household photographers, and a new production space and expression model was created, and a new history page of Taiwan's "people's media" was launched in the war. The green group stood in the position of the people for the first time with the attitude of "small media", resisting the unified, single-oriented national consciousness-shaped machine policy propaganda, editing, and conducting the dress, washing, and compassion for the ruled persons.
The purpose of this course is to systematically trace the rise of Taiwan’s new record with the vision of historical society, to explore the rebellious images of the 1980s recorded by the green group before and after the resolution, and to cooperate with the 1980s historical narration of the 1980s, to re-integrate and in-depth review of history.
After the "Green Group", from 1990 to 2000, the "Panorama School" will be used as the object of discussion. After 2000, personalized, artistic and commercialized recordings emerged and gradually became a trend, which can be referenced and compared with the resistance of the Green Group's aesthetic structure. After 30 years of development, whether Taiwan's record films have formed a unique tradition, what are their characteristics and limitations, and how to jointly explore the possibility of future record films as social reality.
