媒介不只是媒體,一般所說的媒體通常指的是報社、電視台等大眾傳播事業。媒介的範圍要寬廣得多,它包含溝通的各種中介,舉凡語言、文字、信差、靈媒、印刷品、手機、電視、網際網路、電子遊戲、教育與新聞機構等,均屬媒介的一種。而媒介文化卻又不僅僅是這些個別媒介或社會群體的特殊樣態或活動,它還涉及媒介知識的生成、流行文化的消費,以及人群的生活風格等落實在特定時空且與媒介有關的議題。日本學者吉見俊哉寫的《媒介文化論》,包含以上大部分的面向,且內容淺顯易懂,頗適合作為認識媒介文化的入門讀物。
本課程便是以這本書為上課教材,並根據書中的章節將課程分為三大部分:第一部分作為方法的媒介,簡介數種媒介理論,使學習到各種媒介研究的系譜;第二部分作為歷史的媒介,介紹報紙、電話、電視等個別媒介的展發歷程,使認識到是什麼樣的歷史和社會條件,造就今天我們所看到的個別媒介;第三部分作為實踐的媒介,則是在理論與歷史的基礎下,提出當代社會中網際網路等新興媒介的問題,使培養因應媒介變革的開擴視野。為引發學習興趣,同時也讓導讀媒介理論的同學有較充裕的時間準備,課程安排由第二部分的歷史篇開場,其次進入理論篇,最後才是實踐篇。
Media is not just media, but media generally refer to public communications such as newspapers and television stations. The scope of the media is much wider. It includes various mediators in communication, including language, text, messengers, spiritual media, prints, mobile phones, TVs, Internet, electronic games, education and news institutions, etc., which are all of them as media. Media culture is not only a special phenomenon or activity of these individual media or social groups. It also involves issues related to the generation of media knowledge, the consumption of popular culture, and the life style of the people. The "Media Culture Discussion" written by Japanese scholar Toshiya Yoshimi Yoshimi contains most of the above aspects, and the content is simple and easy to understand. It is suitable for cooperation as an introductory reading for understanding media culture.
This course uses this book as the course textbook, and divides the course into three parts according to the chapters in the book: the first part is a medium of method, introducing several media theories, so that they can learn various media research subjects; the second part is a medium of history, introducing newspapers, telephones, televisions and other media. The development process allows us to understand what kind of historical and social conditions it is to create the individual media we see today; the third part, as a practical medium, is to propose problems of new media such as the Internet in contemporary society under the basis of theory and history, so as to cultivate the expansion of the changes in the media. In order to develop learning interest and also give students who are studying media theories more time to prepare. The course is scheduled from the second part of the history chapter, followed by the theory chapter, and finally the first chapter.
